FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CATHOLIC CHARITIES AND FAMILY PROMISE PARTNER WITH FLOURISHNOW TO HOST MEGA JOB FAIR

JACKSONVILLE’S TOP EMPLOYERS AND NON-PROFITS JOIN FORCES TO HELP REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT

Together with Catholic Charities and Family Promise, FlourishNow will host its second local job fair of 2017 at St. John’s Cathedral on Thursday, May 11th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Each one of the host organizations is dedicated to empowering individuals through meaningful work, and together, through this job fair and on-site employment coaching, they are seeking to serve more than 350 unemployed and underemployed job seekers.

“This unique partnership gives our clients the opportunity to meet with employers that are currently hiring, practice interview skills they have learned during our Job Readiness Class and receive a mentor. We want to equip clients with the tools and resources to be successful and to land the job. FlourishNow is a wonderful organization that reinforces those goals.” – Haley Jones, Employment Specialist with Catholic Charities.

Leah Hughey, Jacksonville City Director, is thrilled to be partnering with such well-established charities who are likewise committed to reducing poverty in Jacksonville.

“It has been wonderful working with Catholic Charities and Family Promise, two non-profit pillars in Jacksonville. All three of our organizations recognize the critical importance of employment, as a source of ongoing stability that can keep families together, in their own homes, and help individuals to enjoy the dignity and purpose they were made to have.”

FlourishNow is committed to advancing solutions, and research proves that one of the fastest ways out of poverty is through work. Our job fairs provide the opportunities and the connections necessary to help job seekers find the job they need and deserve.

“Whether it is a first job, a better job, or a career transition, we want this job fair to bless our neighbors and contribute to the flourishing of our city.”

Twenty-eight employers offering job opportunities in fields as diverse as city government, law enforcement, healthcare, customer service, retail, hospitality, and more are committed to attending the event. Senator Marco Rubio’s field staff will also be present, opening a mobile office to address any issues and concerns related to federal programs and agencies.

Other recent hiring events hosted by FlourishNow in Florida, Arizona, and California have had a tremendous impact, collectively serving more than 2,340 job seekers; seventy-one percent of whom have taken confirmed steps toward employment.
