SWFL Outreach and Volunteer Specialist
What is the Job?
FlourishNow works to end the root causes of poverty, dependency, divorce, and child abuse by leveraging the power of the local church to provide struggling families with supportive relationships and meaningful work so that they can achieve independence, stay together, and thrive.
FlourishNow recognizes that true change doesn’t come from a government program, but from the local community – neighbors, friends, churches, and other charitable organizations befriending and investing in those in need. Our goal is to unleash this vast and powerful resource to transform lives in Southwest Florida.
The SWFL Outreach and Volunteer Specialist will have primary responsibility for day-to-day community outreach, volunteer recruitment and coordinating of FlourishNow’s Safe Families for Children (SFFC) and Work2Win (W2W) programs in Southwest Florida.
Specifically, the SWFL Outreach and Volunteer role will encompass the following roles and expectations:
1. Community Outreach: The Outreach and Volunteer Specialist will plan and participate in community engagement activities that result in the development of partnerships with community resource providers and referring agencies for SFFC & the W2W program. Participate in engagement activities within the community that result in the development of partnerships with the local faith community/churches, and supervise volunteer teams to assist with program growth and development needs. Facilitate local outreach, presentations, and community events to help establish relationships and trust with potential clients.
2. Volunteer Recruitment: Promote volunteer opportunities amongst church members and other community organizations in order to stimulate volunteer involvement from those who share a passion for SFFC and the W2W program.
3. Volunteer Training: Coordinate volunteer training opportunities with FlourishNow County Directors and community partners. Lead potential volunteers through the recruitment pathway, ensuring that all recruitment processes are rigorously adhered to and volunteers are connected to a ministry lead through a participating SFFC church partner. Provide ongoing support and encouragement to ministry leads, churches, and volunteers. Input volunteer information into data base and other documentation to ensure appropriate management of Safe Families.
4. Intake and Case Coaching Support: Work with community partners on potential referrals across Circuit 20 and connect appropriate incoming intakes to SFFC County Directors. Help connect non-appropriate referrals to other community providers and services for assistance. Provide intake and case coaching support across Circuit 20 as needed by County Directors.
The SWFL Outreach and Volunteer Specialist will report directly to the Southwest Florida Regional Director and participate in regular supervisory meetings with the Regional Director.
Who Should Apply?
Successful candidates will have a proven track record of successful community outreach, recruitment, training and coordinating of volunteers in the business, church or nonprofit arenas. A minimum of a High School degree is required with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate should feel called to ministering to children and families in crisis, and be passionate about freeing people from dependence on government welfare and poverty. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, organization, networking, coaching/training, and motivating volunteers and the community. The most successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working remotely, has a demonstrated ability to analyze problems and find creative solutions, and who thrives when challenged. Due to the nature of our work, candidates must be able to pass a Level Two background check.
FlourishNow is a Christian-based organization founded in 2015 with three main goals to support human flourishing – helping people overcome poverty and be freed from welfare, strengthening the family, and transforming and equipping private charities to support self-sufficiency rather than privately-funded dependence. Underlying these goals is a belief that the status quo of government welfare and ineffective private charity can and must be changed. It is this sense of urgency that drives us.
Based in Naples, Florida, but with a national vision, FlourishNow organizes networks of effective churches, volunteers, private charities, and donors to transform lives and communities. We are a dynamic organization that works to push the boundaries of what can be accomplished, particularly with volunteers. After building a track record of success in Southwest Florida, we’re scaling up to replicate this impact in cities across the United States. If you’re the kind of person who accomplishes goals others say are “too big,” then you’ll fit right in and excel.
