We’re Launching in Washington, D.C. This May!

Side by side with a coalition of amazing partners in the District of Columbia, and the surrounding area, FlourishNow is thrilled to offer a job fair to serve the DC community. Taking place on May 24, the Community Job Fair will feature 20+ employers, a host of community resource partners, and two amazing congregations – Anacostia River Church and Redeemer Church of Arlington.

This fair hits close to home for our team, as our CEO and I, our Jacksonville City Director, met and worshiped together at Redeemer. I wouldn’t be a part of the FlourishNow team without the Redeemer family. Though we have both since moved away, this job fair is a sort of homecoming for us, as well as a way for all of us, working together with the community, to welcome each and every person who comes through the door.

That warm welcome will come from our two church partners – Redeemer and Anacostia River Church, and from┬álocal non-profit organizations, including our partners DC127, DC Dream Center, Friendship Place, The House DC, and the Department of Employment Services. Our non-profit partners will be on hand to connect job seekers with their services, as well as to offer extra motivation and cheers.┬áThe Department of Employment Services (DOES) will also be outside with their Workforce on Wheels mobile bus, where job seekers can complete resumes and applications.

We are also really excited about the employer partners coming on board, who span the industrial spectrum, including retail (Nike and Sherwin-Williams), healthcare (ResCare), labor (Labor Finders and McCrea Equipment Company), hospitality (Wyndham Worldwide), and staffing companies with a lot of diverse opportunities (Staffing Now, Kelly Services, and Ruthi Postow Staffing).

If none of those industries sound like a fit, then maybe you’d like to be a security guard or a fireman? How about a salesperson or a customer service rep? Companies will be on hand to hire for almost everything!

Because we know this many choices can be overwhelming, and that the job search process can be lonely, we want to welcome everyone to arrive early – at 10:30 – for a workshop and a conversation with a job coach who can help you focus on the right employers, plan what to say when you meet them, and make sure you’re all set to find a great job.

Along with our partners, we want to extend a warm welcome for the whole DC community to come out and see us at the DC Dream Center, on May 24. We promise there isn’t a more productive or encouraging way you could spend your Thursday!
